The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has said the institution admitted 11,885 students from over 120,000 applicants for the 2020/2021 academic session.

Ogundipe Said, the new students are made up of 2020 and 2021 UTME candidates who applied for admission with the best grades, 70% of them from 2020 and the rest from 2021.

According to the vice-chancellor of University of Lagos, the university admits 30 percent of applicants from its last UTME candidates. The decision is meant to ensure that many applicants are not deny for being admitted

Ogundipe congratulate the students and encouraged them to be diligent, focused, and law-abiding so they could do well in their studies and other activities expected of them, and graduate in a timely manner.

Professor Ogundipe warned the students that UNILAG had a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of misconduct, including social vices such as cultism, hooliganism, exam malpractice, sexual harassment, fighting and so on.  He said any student who ran afoul of this policy would surely face the law.

He advised them to be actively involved in student union activities, explaining that such participation would prepare them well for future leadership roles.

The president said that the university was prepared to support students in making their stay a worthwhile experience.
