JGSG Releases N317 Million To NECO For Release Of Jigawa Students Result.

The Jigawa State Government has settled the payment of National Examination Council, NECO, Examinations fees for the immediate release of results of NECO exams for the 800,000 Jigawa students who sat for this year’s examination.

This was disclosed by the Director-General State Educational Inspectorate and Monitoring Unit Malam Abdullahi Yunusa in an interview.

The Director General said N317 million was spent for the payment of this year’s NECO exams, adding that Jigawa students are advised to check their NECO results on NECO’s website from Thursday or Friday.

The Director General added that Government will establish a committee under Jigawa Education Resources Development JERD to find the students with high scores in order to set up a merit award for them.

According to him, various workshops and training of teachers on capacity building were organized by the Ministry of Education for teachers especially Science and Mathematic Teachers.

He also stated that all the Principals in the State were trained on quality assurance control.

Speaking further, he said over 1350 teachers have benefited from various teaching skills, even as he said the state government will hire 4000 teachers and that the state will select the best among them to be converted as permanent and pensionable teachers where they will be posted to their respective Local Government Areas to teach as teachers.

2021 SSCE External NECO Registration Guideline

1. APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION

Prospective candidates who wish to register for the 2021 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, are hereby informed that registration for the examination has commenced. The registration is both offline and online. Prospective candidates should visit the Council’s website www.neco.gov.ng SSCE External link, to locate  the nearest registration point (Cybercafé) and register at any time within the stipulated registration period.  Candidates can also create account, purchase registration token and then proceed to registration point to register

❖Passport size photograph is required for the registration. The candidate’s passport size photograph should NOT be more than SIX MONTHS old and must have white background. System Camera can also be used to snap the passport size photograph at the point of registration as the case may be.

❖ BIOMETRIC FINGERPRINTS WILL BE CAPTURED DURING THE OFFLINE REGISTRATION
OF EACH CANDIDATE.

❖ CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE BIOMETRIC VERIFICATION DURING
THE CONDUCT OF THE EXAMINATION.

❖ CANDIDATES FOUND TO HAVE MISMATCHED FINGERPRINTS AT THE POINT OF
VERIFICATION ARE DEEMED IMPERSONATORS AND WOULD BE SANCTIONED
ACCORDING TO EXTANT LAWS

3. REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is Thirteen Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Naira (N13,350.00) only plus Fifty N50.00) Naira Stamp Duty Charge.

4. MODE OF PAYMENT

Candidates or registration points (cyber cafes) are to visit www.neco.gov.ng and create an account using either their emails or phone numbers, activate the accounts and pay into the NECO TSA through five payment options.

➢ Bank Branch

5. REGISTRATION PERIOD

i. The registration period begins on 9th September, 2021 and ends on 31st October, 2021 at 12.00 midnight.

ii. Late registration i.e. registration done from 1st to 6th November, 2021 will attract payment of ADDITIONAL One Thousand Naira (N1,000) only.

iii. Walk-in registration is Twenty-five Thousand Naira (N25,000.00) only per candidate. Registration must be done By one a day before the scheduled time of the first subject/paper intended to sit for.

6. ATTESTATION/PHOTO CARDS AND EXAMINATION TIME TABLE

On completion of the registration process, each candidate must obtain the following from the Cyber Cafe:

i. Timetable for the examination; and
ii. At least One (1) clear copy of the NECO Photo card; which would be used to admit the candidate into the Examination Hall. (Candidates should note that Passport size photographs on the Photo cards that are not clear will NOT be accepted in the Examination Hall).
The Referee’s Attestation section of the Photo card should be SIGNED AND STAMPED by any of the
following:
a) The Principal of a recognized Senior Secondary School.
b) An Ordained Clergyman or a Chief Imam.
c) A Commissioned Officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces or the Police not below the rank of Captain
or its equivalent.
d) A Senior Civil Servant not below GL. 14.
e) A Legal Practitioner of not less than Ten years’ experience.
CANDIDATES ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THEIR ATTESTATION/PHOTO
CARDS AT NECO STATE OFFICE FOR STAMPING.

7. VISUALLY IMPAIRED CANDIDATES

Visually impaired candidates are to register like everyone. However, they are to indicate the nature of their disability when making entry of their bio-data in the offline application during registration.

8. EXAMINATION CENTRES

The Examination centres for each state have been grouped into Neighbourhoods. Candidates should select a
Neighbourhood within the State where they intend to sit for the Examination and they will automatically be
assigned a centre within the selected neighbourhood after uploading their registration data online.

10. GENERAL INFORMATION

i. The Registration fee, once paid, is non-refundable.

ii. The use of reputable cyber cafes is highly recommended as the Council will not be liable for registration

errors committed by candidates. Candidates should ensure that they cross-check all entries made by cyber cafes on their behalf, in the offline application before allowing the data to be uploaded online. Note: there is  only one chance for correction once the candidate’s data is uploaded online.

iii. Candidates or cybercafé operators should carefully follow the SSCE External link on www.neco.gov.ng for instructions on the registration procedure before embarking on the registration exercise.

iv. Candidates should study the Rules &Regulations as well as the Syllabus before the Examination.

v. Candidates should note that the photograph uploaded during the registration will be embossed on their Certificates.

vi. Candidates should check the viability of their centres online at least a day before the date of the examination.

vii. Smoking, Use of GSM phones and other electronic communication devices are not allowed in the Examination Hall.

viii. Candidates should dress in mufti and no one will be allowed entry into the examination hall with arms.

ix. Multiple registration is not allowed. Candidates who register more than once will have their entire results cancelled.

x. Please note that No candidate shall be allowed into the Examination Hall after the commencement of Examination.

xi. Wearing of face mask in the exam hall is compulsory.

xii. Social and physical distancing in the examination hall or classroom will be strictly enforced/observed.

xiii. Every candidate should bring into the examinational hall or classroom his/her own hand sanitiser.

xiv. A candidate showing symptoms of COVID-19 in the course of the examination will not be allowed to

continue until he/she is certified to be medically fit.

NECO 2021 Timetable ; The National Examination Council SSCE examination which takes place annually mostly around  July to August. The  Examination has been scheduled to commence from the 5th of July to the 16th of August 2021.

According to the NECO 2021 Timetable  the examination is starting with some practical on 5th July which are; Food and Nutrition, Catering Craft, etc. While physics practical was on 12 July followed by Data processing practical on 15th July. 1. Where the time on the question paper differs from the time on this timetable, the time on the question paper should be strictly adhered to

2. For physical Education and Auto Mechanical practical paper I; French, Music, and Arabic Paper IV, the specific venue for the examination should be confirm from NECO office 

3. Practical in Science, Stenography, Computer Studies and Data Processing can be sets where the number of candidates is large and the equipment cannot go around 

4. Visual Arts Paper IV (Creative Design) should be given to candidates at least one week before the examination date

5. Welding and Fabrication, Engineering Craft Practice should be given to candidates at lest three weeks before the examination date 

6. Nigerian Languages( Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik and Ibibio) include literature aspect

7. Albino and Blind candidates are to be allowed 30 extra minutes at the end of each subject

8. Blind candidates must take use of the NECO supply OBR Customize Braille sheet for the examination 

9. Dyeing and Bleaching 1B, Photography 1B, Painting and Decorations 1B, Printing Craft Practice 1B, Leather Goods Manufacturing and Repair 1B, should be given to candidates at least two weeks before the examination date 

10. Use if scientific calculator is allowed 

11. Bringing into the examination hall Electronic communications gadgets ( program calculators, mobile phones, iPads, tablets etc) Is strictly prohibited.

NECO Appoint New Acting Registrar

The Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has approved the appointment of Mr. Ebikibina John Ogborodi as the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of the Council.

NECO new registrar

The appointment followed the death of the Registrar, Professor Godswill Obioma on Monday, 1st June, 2021 after a brief illness. Until his appointment, Mr. Ogborodi was the Director of Special Duties in the Council.

A Circular issued by the Director, Human Resource Management, Mr. Mustapha K. Abdul, explained that the Acting Registrar’s appointment was endorsed by the Governing Board at its emergency meeting held on 2nd June 2021.

The Circular explained that Mr. Ogborodi’s appointment was as a result of his being the most Senior Director in the Council. The Circular stated that all activities of the Council are to continue unabated as earlier planned.

Mr. Ogborodi hails from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. He obtained his first Degree from University of Jos in 1986 and a Master Degree in Learning Disability from the same university in 1999.

The Acting Registrar joined the service of NECO in 1999 and had served in different capacities. He was a former Acting Director, Examination Development Department; Acting Director, Office of the Registrar; Director, General Services and Director, Human Resource Management among others.

Mr. Ogborodi who is 58 years old is married and blessed with children Azeez Sani Head Information and Public Relations Division

NECO Release 2020 GCE Examinations Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) Release 2020 GCE Examinations Results, Senior School Certificate Examination for External Candidates.

Announcing the results at the Council Headquarters in Minna on Thursday, the Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Godswill Obioma disclosed that a total of 41,459 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 39,503 actually sat.

Professor Obioma explained that a total of 26,277 candidates obained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics while 34,014 candidates also obtained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar who reiterated the Council’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, noted that appropriate standards and excellence were maintained right from the planning stage to the release of results. And he he’s proudly to announce that NECO Release 2020 GCE Examinations Results

Professor Obioma disclosed that 6,465 cases of examination malpractice were recorded in the 2020 SSCE External as against 17,004 cases in 2019.

He noted that the reduction in the level of malpractice was as a result of deepened monitoring of the examination by members of the Governing Board, Management and Senior Staff of the Council.

The Registrar explained that in line with the Council’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, four supervisors who were found culpable of aiding and abetting malpractice have been blacklisted and would no longer be engaged in the conduct of NECO examinations.

One examination centre in Ogun State has been derecognized for intimidation and several attempts to induce NECO officials as well as aiding and abetting examination malpractice.

Professor Obioma further disclosed that the results of 256,000 candidates who missed some papers during the 2020 SSCE (Internal) due to the ENDSARS Protests in some states and who sat for those papers during the 2020 SSCE (External) are being released along side those of external candidates today.

He added that “it is gratifying to note that the examination was at no extra cost to the affected candidates”.

A further analysis of candidates performance indicates that a total number of 29,918 obtained credit and above in English Language while a total number of 34,061 candidates obtained credit and above in Mathematics.

The Registrar stated that year 2020 ushered in very daunting challenges essentially occasioned by COVID-19 Pandemic and ENDSARS Protests in the pursuit of the Council mandates.

He explained that “this necessitated the rescheduling of the various examinations organised by NECO, for instance, 2020 SSCE (External) which ought to have been concluded in November/December 2020 was conducted in February/March 2021”.

According to him, “inspite of these, we were not deterred rather we remained resilient and resolute in the conduct of our activities”. The Registrar reiterated the Council’s commitment to conducting credible examinations to improve the quality of education in the country.

Professor Obioma explained that in view of the above, and based on approval of the Federal Ministry of Education, NECO has scheduled her public examinations for year 2021 as follows:

National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission of JSS 1 students into Federal Unity Colleges is scheduled for Saturday 29th May, 2021.
Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal is scheduled from Monday 5th July to Monday 16th August, 2021.
Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is scheduled for Monday 23rd August to Monday 6th September, 2021 in order to enable students at that level cover enough subject matter for the examination.

The Registrar expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for finding him worthy to be appointed to serve in this capacity and contribute his quota to the development of education in the country.

He also appreciated the Federal Ministry of Education under the able leadership of the Honourable Minister, Malam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of State for Education, Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and the Permanent Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, for their support to the Council.

The Registrar also thanked the Governing Board of the Council under the able leadership of Dr. Abubakar Siddique Mohammed for their policy guidance in the implementation of the Council’s statutory responsibilities.
