JAMB Explain Issues Concerning Choice of Examination Town Centers for UTME Candidates

The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Prof. Ishaq O. Oloyede, has deeply explain issues concerning the Choice of Examination Town. He stated that only candidates who are sitting for the examination has the  right to choose examination towns as far as the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is concerned. He said JAMB do not select examination town or transfer candidates to other towns except the ones they had selected by themselves during registration.

He also said  that examination centres are grouped into examination towns and candidates are expected to make their choices of examination towns while the Board distributes them to centres. To eradicate bias, he explained that an automated system had been developed by the Board to distribute candidates who have choose particular examination town randomly into its centers.

He added that JAMB candidates can only choose examinations towns not examination centres. The Registrar said, “It’s the duty of the UTME candidates to select the examination towns he or she wants to sit for the Examination. The claims that we put-up JAMB candidates to centres not indicated in their application documents is not true.

The candidate choose the place where he/she wants to take the examination and, immediately the amount of any specific examination town is full, that town will not  be available again. This happens most especially when a candidate registers at late time, therefore he/she will have to choose what is available. JAMB will not change candidate examination town of choice to another.”
